Orange TV in the UK

by David Allen

This one may have been a long time in the making and in fact it still isn’t here yet, but Orange TV is definitely going to appear in the UK by the end of the year, according to Orange, although industry sources are saying that this is not so and the service will be delayed further.

Orange TV is fairly successful in France with around 1.2 million subscribers but, even so, they have brought in a partner, Red Bee Media, to help them develop the Orange TV brand in the UK.

News of how and when the channel will actually be seen in the UK has been very thin on the ground.

The initial offering from Orange is looking like a hurriedly put together mix of content with no thought of how these different types of content are going to blend together.

They are talking about using content similar to that seen on Bebo and MySpace.

This will be tried in France first and possibly in the UK.
