Ribbit about to be swallowed by BT

by David Allen

There may not have been any firm answers to all of the questions being put to BT regarding the proposed purchase of Ribbit, but it seems that there could be a deal on the table which satisfies both parties.

This should mean that an announcement is due to be made soon.

The basics are that BT will be taking over the Silicon Valley based internet phone service software development company Ribbit, and they are looking to spend something in the region of £27 million for the privilege.

Ribbit has software that enables developers to design applications for social networking sites, landline and mobile phones, bringing them all together.

This is known as unified communications and Google is already one step ahead as they recently bought a company called Grand Central who was also working on the same idea.
