BT looks to London for help
by David Allen
BT may have announced that they were going to be investing a massive £1.5 billion in rolling out the fibre based broadband network.
But there were clues ion the announcement about where and when this was to be taking place and it seems that London and other authorities are being asked to help out in making this dream network take form and eventually supply around ten million homes with super fast broadband by the year 2012, just in time for the Olympics.
BT mentioned that they would be investing into areas where the public sectors are keen to form partnerships.
Once this network has been completed then stable speeds of around 40 Mbps are achievable when the fibre goes through a cabinet in the street and where the fibre just enters the property then speeds of up to 60 Mbps are achievable, but can eventually reach 100 Mbps.
All that is needed is for the right support from local authorities and businesses to make this network happen.
