BBC thinks about mobile TV

by David Allen

It has been a few months since the BBC’s year long trial of mobile TV, with no decisions made as to whether this would become a permanent and viable addition to the services being provided by the BBC.

The BBC Trust are looking into the plans that has been the centre of some complaints, this process is expected to be finalised by the end of August, although the outcome is likely to be that the service can carry on, in the way which it has been doing.

The BBC mobile service was available through the 3G services of Orange, T Mobile, Vodafone, and 3. Though there are concerns from rival channels who believe that because the BBC is giving away their service, this is actually harming the competition.

Mobile services are the key to getting services in front of the younger markets, the large age group ranging from sixteen to thirty-four who are using mobile technology more than fixed line services.
