BT buys Ribbit

by David Allen

The deal that has been around for sometime now has finally been agreed. BT is being reported as paying around £53 million for the Silicon Valley based Ribbit.

Ribbit are only a few months away from launching their latest development, which allows users to combine mobile phone calls with the internet and then convert into text. There are many uses for a service such as this.

The company also allows developers to use their services to create their own applications. There are already applications, which allow voice on FaceBook.

However, by being open and allowing their applications to be used by other developers gives the concept a whole new dimension which often leads to many new innovations being seen right through to the end, instead of being just a idea which never see the light of day.
