BSC recommends VoIP for small businesses

The Engineering and Technology Forum of the British Computer Society (BSC) has highlighted the benefits of VoIP technology for small businesses.

The manager of the forum, Adrian Walmsley, spoke out to advise small businesses that a recent warning about slow bandwith speeds, by the Communications Management Association (CMA), should not put businesses off using VoIP.

The CMA report suggested that slow bandwith speeds could adversely affect business efficiency.

However, Walmsley said that the report related to next generation video applications, which require far greater bandwith than that needed to use VoIP services.

He pointed out that VoIP services can allow companies with a distributed group of workers, those that use home-workers for example, to appear as a coherent entity with one telephone number.
