Parents spy on kids net activities

by David Allen

In a recent survey it has been found that children often bypass the age verification systems that have been put in place to prevent the under age child from signing up for membership of many social networking sites.

Naturally this is not the first time that the problem has come to light; there have been similar conclusions made by the media regulator Ofcom when they published a report earlier on in the year.

In another report, this time directed at the parents of children who spend time online, a different pattern comes to light.

Seventy two per cent of parents say that they spy on their children’s internet activity and twenty-five per cent actually log into their kids social networking sites in order to check up on what they are doing.

However there are another twenty five per cent who cannot access their children’s site that way, so they sign up for an account with the same provider and check out what their children are saying and who to.
