BBC 1, is Terrestrial Channel of the Year

by David Allen

The BBC had a great time at the Edinburgh Festivals annual TV awards, with channels and individual programmes all taking some of the top honours despite some serious competition from the other broadcasters.

BBC1 took the top prize for being the best channels in terrestrial TV, while it was BBC3, which scooped the top honour for the digital channel content.

Dr Who took the trophy for the best TV programme of the year, completing a major scoop which has never been seen before at these awards, usually there awards are split over the range of broadcasters, showing that the BBC has got the measure of the industry at the moment.

These awards are not voted for by the public though, the results are decided by a panel of TV experts, executives and members of the media.
