ITV man attacks Ofcom

by David Allen

The media regulator have come under fire from Peter Fincham the former head of BBC1 and now the boss of ITV has blasted the way that Ofcom goes about policing the broadcasting industry and in particular the way that the regulator hands out rules and regulations.

He was making a speech during the closing stages of the Edinburgh Festival from where the BBC had actually come away with some solid industry backing, only to be hit with this attack.

Peter Fincham, who resigned from the BBC over that programme with the Queen, has accused both Ofcom and the BBC Trust of taking the entertainment out of the television by ignoring what people are really wanting to watch in favour of programming that is not being watched in great numbers at all.
