More BBC to go online

by David Allen

The BBC will be making more of their channels available online according to the BBC Director of Vision, Jana Bennett.

At the moment it is only BBC News and BBC3 that are available over the internet, but these will be joined by BBC4, CBBC and CBeebies from September 16th this year through bbc.co.uk and of course the iPlayer for a twelve month trial.

The BBC did say that they were interested in making their content available online in the annual statement of programme policy. This includes BBC1, although there is no indication as to when the flagship channel is going to be made available online.

This will follow what ITV has done already with all four of their channels since last year.
