Selina Scott sues Five

Channel Five have found themselves in a bit of trouble over the alleged dumping of veteran news reader, Selina Scott, in favour of some younger news readers.

These claims have come out as plans by Selina Scott who is 57, to sue Channel Five on the grounds of ageism.

She is claiming that Five News had agreed a deal with her to stand in for Natasha Kaplinsky when she went on maternity leave.

But instead of Selina Scott reading the Five News, the channel had hired Isla Traquair aged 28 and Matt Barbet aged 32.

This is where the claim of the channel being ageist has come in. The claim is made against both the Channel and the director of programmes for Five, Bob Gale.

Five have stated that they deny this claim and will defend themselves against it.
