O2 announces PAYG iPhone launch
O2 has announced that the iPhone will be available on pay-as-you-go (PAYG) from 16th September in O2, Carphone Warehouse and Apple stores.

8GB iPhones will be available on PAYG for £349.99, while 16GB models will cost £399.99.

As a comparison, the 8GB iPhone is available free to monthly contract users who sign up for an £45 per month deal for 18 months, including free web browsing, 1,200 minutes and 500 texts per month. Total price: £360.

Makes the PAYG version seem a little pricey.

Pricey, yes, but unlimited web browsing and Wi-Fi hotspot access is included for 12 months. Internet access after the first year will set PAYG iPhone users back £10 per month.

Visual voicemail and call merging will not be available to PAYG iPhone users.

£45 x 18 months is not £360. Total cost of contract is £810 overall.
