Tesco Digital offers TV

The UK’s largest supermarket chain is in talks with broadcasters and film distributors in order for them to provide TV and film content through their website. They already sell music tracks, in fact around three million tracks at a price of 79p, even though they are available on WMA or Mp3 formats.

The aim is to eat into the huge market share that rival film and TV provider iTunes already commands, although they have announced a new version of their media player, iTunes 8. Tesco are hoping to get everything in place to be on the Tesco Digital website in time for Christmas.

It is believed that Tesco Digital are negotiating with the BBC, ITV and Freemantle for TV content, although as of yet there is no firm deals in place yet.
