Thieves steal Mayfair’s internet
by David Allen

It may sound like something from one of his films, but police believe that a raid on a BT exchange in London’s Mayfair could have been carefully coordinated to coincide with the fortieth birthday bash being held for gangster film maker and husband of Madonna, Guy Richie.
The raid took place between 8pm and 9pm at the BT exchange on Farm St, which is just off Park Lane; they got away with servers, routers and network cards with an estimated value of £2 million.
The theft left a large area of London and thousands of people without internet for almost an entire day.
This is not the first time that this type of equipment has been stolen; there is a huge market for expensive computer equipment and for the copper & fibre cables that connect the equipment to the network.
