BT launch HD downloads

BT Vision has been testing HD Downloads and they are now in the position of adding this to their website.

The way that this is going to work is the HD film has to be downloaded to a set top box, rather than streamed.

This means that if the average film is around 8 Gb and the user has a 2 Mbps connection, it is going to take around nine hours to download.

The HD downloads are going to have a starting price of £2.95, but will rise to £4.95 for the latest blockbuster films.

Although the service is going to be competing with Blu-Ray and DVD rentals, BT Vision are going to have their hands full trying to convince rental users that this is the way to go, especially if the DVD store is just down the road.
