Ofcom bites back over Picnic

by David Allen

Recently Sky announced that they were putting their pay TV service for digital TV viewers oh hold because the media regulator Ofcom were dragging their feet on making a decision as to when the service could be launched.

As a result Sky claim that they have redeployed many of the staff working on Picnic to other divisions.

However, in response to these claims by Sky, Ofcom have said that the addition of Sky channels creates complex issues, which may have a long-term effect on pay TV.

They also said that the decision to cool things down is totally down to Sky.

They also go on to say that there has been a lot of investigation going on and Sky has not been that quick to respond to their questions, hence the time it has been taking to come to a decision.
