by Alan Harten
Russian web portal Mail.Ru is to begin making use of Global IP Solutions (GIP) VoIP technology with its instant messenger service, which is the most widely used in the country.
GIPS’ VoiceEngine will be used by Mail.Ru who will embed it inside of its Mail.Ru Agent when it next upgrades to its 5.2 version.
The new system should allow for reduced rate calling to both landline and mobile phones.
The GIPS VoiceEngine’s capabilities include automated adjustments to reduce echo, as well as noise suppression and bandwidth constraints.
It is the most downloaded IP-based communications voice engine in the world.
Well known research company Frost & Sullivan are of the opinion that unified communications market is in very good shape and will see a market growth of around 13% per year and turnover of around $4.55 billion.
