Households save cash with broadband

The people who have the most to gain from being connected to the internet are the third of UK households without broadband access, according to the Post Office.

These are the people who are caught in the digital divide; they have no broadband or computer meaning that they are missing out on more than just surfing.

By having access to the internet, the Post Office believes that households could save around £70 per month on their household expenses.

That’s around £840 per year and for a family struggling in this current financial climate that is a lot of cash.

By using compare sites, households would be able to check on the prices that they pay for services such as electric, phone and gas, to see if there are other options available to them at a lower price.

The Post Office are the only pre-pay cash internet service provider and there is a market for their product as forty five per cent of their customers pay for their broadband up front and in cash.
