Carphone Warehouse in Tiscali bid

by David Allen

It seems that the Carphone Warehouse has waited for long enough and now is the time to get back into the saga that appears to have dragged on for a long time - the proposed sale of the UK division of Italian Telecoms business Tiscali.

Maybe this time the Carphone Warehouse may be in luck. However they are taking a chance on their initial offer of £450.

This is £150 million less than the Italians were looking for, but finances are not quite the same as they were when this deal was first announced, a clear mistake by Tiscali which is going to cost them millions of pounds.

Originally, the Carphone Warehouse’s bid was completely rejected and the company was thrown out of the contest, but now shares in Tiscali have fallen by forty per cent, which could mean this deal is the only deal for the UK division.

If Carphone pull this off, they will become the largest internet service provider, with 4.6 million subscribers.
