Project Access completed in Cumbria

by David Allen

A project that set out to connect the people of the county of Cumbria to the broadband network has been hailed a success; project Access now claims that 99.8 per cent of the business and residential properties in the area are now able to receive broadband.

The project was initially launched by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) at the request of business owners, who believed that they were missing out on valuable business connections and commerce through not having a decent internet connection.

It has been estimated that over sixteen thousand businesses are now able to take advantage of being connected to the internet.

In a survey of these businesses it was found that thirty per cent believed that they have seen their business grow, while twenty five per cent have seen their revenues increase.
