It seems, from a recent report by media regulator Ofcom, that they have allowed commercial broadcasters to reduce their regional content.
At the same time, they appear to be saying that the British public are willing to pay out an additional £3.50 per month, or £42 per year, in order to keep the current state of public service broadcasting (PSB).
This sort of increase would bring in around £800 million per year, and yet Ofcom had suggested a £235 million price tag, which would be enough to keep the PSB as it is in the year 2012.
There are mixed messages within the Ofcom report, where on one hand they say that commercial TV can cut back on PSB, while on the other they say that the public are willing to pay more.
