BBC HD launches in Scandinavia
by Janet Harris

BBC Worldwide Channels is launching BBC-branded thematic channels in Scandinavia, through Nordic pay TV operator, Canal Digital.
The channels will be launched in December 2008, and will represent BBC HD’s debut in Europe.
The deal also includes standard definition channel, BBC Knowledge, as well as a new channel for the Nordic region.
BBC Food and BBC Prime will be updated and re-branded as BBC Lifestyle and BBC Entertainment.
Each of the channels will be customised for the different Nordic countries, and will feature subtitles in local languages.
Darren Childs, Managing Director, BBC Worldwide Channels, said, “Scandinavia is an important region for us and we have committed a significant investment in the territory for the future through the launch of these dedicated channel feeds.”
