Virgin finally rolls out mobile broadband

Virgin Media have now announced their mobile broadband service. This comes after signing a new agreement with their provider T Mobile.

The service will be offered on an eighteen month contract, new customers will receive the dongle for free, but broadband usage will be limited to 3 Gb per month.

Users who go over the allowance will be charged at a rate of £15 per Gb, with charges to the nearest kilobyte.

The connection speed is being advertised as up to 3.6 Mbps, but even in London the T Mobile service is only getting around 2.1 Mbps on average.

In reality, as with the other networks, connection speeds are going to vary depending on location.

Existing Virgin Mobile customers, who subscribe to the XL package, will be able to get the new mobile broadband service free for the first three months.
