Windows Media Centre gets Freeview
by David Allen

Some Windows users will say that they have been watching the Freeview service through the Windows Media Centre for some time, which begs the question why would certification make that any different.
Basically this will mean that from now on all users of the Windows Media Centre will now be able to use all of the functions that Freeview has to offer, including the use of the red button feature.
Certification will also allow computer manufacturers to bring out Freeview-ready PCs to this sector in the UK, instantly creating a rival for set top boxes.
However, for existing users there may not be an update for the Windows Media Centre, as it appears to be only available for computers, although there has not been any confirmation of that yet.
