Deal signed between BT, 3 and T Mobile

Two UK mobile operators have joined forces in order to beef up the high-speed links between their base units.

This is an important move by T Mobile and 3 UK, as the amount of data traffic using the networks is quickly catching up with that of voice traffic.

In actual fact this deal is as good for BT Wholesale as it is for the two mobile providers.

It would mean some much welcome investment, estimated to be worth several hundred million pounds.

This is bound to be followed by further investments by other mobile providers.

However, BT Wholesale could find themselves losing out on an entire sector, as broadband suppliers such as the Carphone Warehouse and BSkyB are at present installing their own equipment into the BT exchanges.
