The European Commission are about to propose some measures which are set to protect the rights of the millions of shoppers who prefer to buy online in Europe.
The idea is to ease shoppers’ fears of being caught out by fraud, with the intention of boosting trade between all of the twenty seven nations who make up the EU.
The initial proposal would be that every sale that occurs across the borders of the EU would be on the condition that the consumer has a two week cooling off period just in case they change their mind.
The EU suggest that there should also be a refund policy for deliveries that fail to turn up on time and better cover for repairs or replacements for faulty goods.
However, the policing of these rules would be down to the individual governments and so will affect the trading standards that are already in place, but with 150 million shopping online within the EU a strategy is needed to protect the consumer.
