Dell netbook free with Vodafone mobile broadband
by David Allen
Vodafone has announced plans to give away free Dell netbooks to mobile broadband customers.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 will be offered free alongside 24 month mobile broadband contracts.
Sim cards slot in just behind the Mini 9’s battery, and a 3G data card is built into the netbook.
Customers wanting 1GB download allowance per month will pay monthly line rental of £25, whilst those wanting 3GB will pay £30.
Download speeds will be the same as those offered on laptop dongles with a maximum of 7.2Mbps.
There are, however, a number of set backs with this package.
In addition to costing twice as much as mobile broadband over laptop dongle, each gigabyte downloaded in excess of data packaged in the contract will set customers back £15.
Furthermore, the Inspiron offered by Vodafone is less functional than Dell’s standard Mini 9 with just 8GB of storage compared to the standard 16GB.
