H2O in the sewers of Bournemouth

by David Allen

There is something stirring in the sewers underneath the coastal town of Bournemouth, more specifically in the postcode areas of BH10 and BH11.

H2O have begun to install their fibre network, which is going to be capable of delivering broadband speeds up to 100 Mbps.

There has been an opt in campaign going on for the past couple of months, where businesses and households can opt it to become part of the Fibre City for free.

As the fibre is laid in the sewers, each property that has opted in will be connected via a trench, which connects to a box that has been placed on the wall of the building.

This is as far as the Fibre City goes, and no work will be undertaken within the buildings.

It has been estimated that the cost of the Bournemouth Fibre City will come out at around £30 million.
