Sky challenges BT Vision adverts

There has been a long running campaign by BT Vision, where they seem to compare their service directly to that of Sky, or that is how Sky sees it.

The advert promotes the BT Vision service and the one month’s free subscription to the sports channel Setanta.

Sky believed that the claims in the adverts directly compare the services provided by Sky, except for the fact that the cost of Setanta Sports is not a great deal cheaper through BT Vision.

The other and probably more important point is that BT use the term “Sky High”, and as Sky is well known for providing top football through Sky Sports, then there is an indirect comparison there.

The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) has got involved in this now and they have decided that Sky are right, and as result have told BT Vision that this advert should not be shown again, which is a bit of blow to this long running series of adverts which star Kris Marshall.
