Broadband for all considered

The Prime Minister did well to announce that every single home that is considered as being poor, in the UK, would be connected to the broadband network when he did, because if it had been later then it may not have happened.

Now the plan is to be examined by ministers, although it is not exactly clear what they are checking out.

Whether this is going to be how the broadband network is going to be developed to cope with this sudden influx of new internet users, or how they are going to pay for it, is not clear. Who can tell?

The estimated cost would have been around £300 million, but hopefully this is not going to be revised in any way, otherwise the one million families that are currently going without broadband access may have to wait a little longer.
