Motorola brings canopy to UK

by David Allen

The US communications equipment company, Motorola, is bringing its gear across the Atlantic to create a point to point wireless broadband canopy.

These Canopy radio units will be running at 2.4GHz, 5.4GHz and 5.7GHz.

The firm suggested that these devices should be able to handle a descent amount of traffic, probably up to around 10 Mb but with an average of 7 Mb, which would be the speed that should be expected as the top speed is always slightly out.

The units that are expected in the UK have a range of around two miles.

This may not seem a great deal, however it actually gives coverage of a range which is much more than that.

In the US, they are currently using equipment which has a range of ten miles.
