
It is going to be a debatable point as to whether or not the big players within the public service broadcasting sector are scared of the changes that are going to be forced upon them by the regulator Ofcom.
The chief executive of Ofcom, Ed Richards, has promised that he is not about to shy away from the proposals that are needed to safeguard the future of public service broadcasting in the UK.
It could be a way of saying that there are those broadcasters who are scared to get involved in the PSB debate.
It would seem that the BBC are going to be the net losers in any changes to funding, as this could mean taking a chunk of cash from the licence fee, or providing a shareholding in the BBC’s commercial arm, BBC Worldwide.
The winner is going to be Channel Four; they are ready, willing and able to take up the PSB challenge.
