Vodafone in trouble over ads

Advertising in the national press and other media has its benefits, but also has the risk of people seeing things that they do not agree with and therefore feeling compelled to complain to the advertising standards authority (ASA), as they did in this case, along with T Mobile and 3 Mobile Broadband.

The complaints are centred on two adverts that for Vodafone mobile broadband and the claims in these adverts that this service was:

“most reliable”
“fastest”
“light years ahead”

Vodafone claims that the figures that they used were from an independent speed trial, in which mobile broadband services were tested and according to these results, they did come out on top.

However, the ASA upheld the complaints and told Vodafone that in the future they will have to make it clear on what basis their claims are made,
