O2 revamps mobile broadband packages

Mobile network operator O2 is revamping its mobile broadband packages following a cross network customer consultation.

Ten percent of those surveyed by the company believed they had been misled by their service provider on the speed or coverage of mobile broadband.

A third of those polled said the ongoing cost of mobile broadband had been higher than they expected.

Thirteen percent were frustrated at not having a returns guarantee if they were unhappy with their service.

Most shockingly, 20% of respondents said they are unable to use mobile broadband where they wanted despite claims from network providers that they offer 90% coverage in the UK.

To counter these concerns, O2 is offering a 50 day Happiness guarantee, a network coverage checker, and has introduced a new pricing plan.

During the Happiness guarantee grace period, customers who have signed up for O2 mobile broadband have a no strings attached escape clause, allowing them to leave the network at any time if they are unhappy with the service they have received.

The network coverage checker enables consumers who are thinking about signing up for mobile broadband to find out whether they will be able to access the internet in the places that they want to

O2’s price revisions mean that its mobile broadband will now cost less.

A £30 monthly contract will now buy a 10GB download limit, as well as unlimited access to 6,100 Wi-Fi hotspots around the UK.

O2’s standard 3GB download limit contract has been reduced to £15 per month, and comes with a free USB dongle modem for customers signing up to 18 month or 24 month contracts.
