It is no secret now that internet users are going to be approached by legal teams if it is thought that they are involved in the illegal downloading of copyrighted material, yet it seems that one of the main excuses is that the user has an open wireless connection and therefore may not be the only person using that connection.
So in order to prevent this excuse being used in the future, some internet service providers are looking at disconnecting those subscribers who are using an open wireless network, be it at home or business.
The ISP Karoo is one such ISP who is willing to disconnect their customers who use an unsecured or FON router. This leaves the internet user with little or no knowledge of router security measures, open to disconnection.
With the threat of legal action just a letter away, now internet users have to worry about being thrown off the network even if they have done nothing wrong at all.
