Motorola is seeking to put an end to its recent lacklustre handset sales with a new 5 megapixel cameraphone developed in a joint venture with Kodak.
Motorola’s Zine ZN5 aims to combine a full featured phone handset with high quality digital photography.
The 5 megapixel camera, developed with specialist advice from Kodak, features a Xenon flash, built-in red eye reduction, and opitimised settings for taking photos in low light.
A 1GB microSD card included with the handset and 350MB of internal memory allow users to store 1,000′s of photographs, which can be shared via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MMS or USB.
Photos from the phone can be instantly uploaded to the Kodak Gallery, and 50 free prints are included in the phone’s purchase price.
Kodak’s Easy Share Software is installed on the phone, enabling users to easily organise, store, share and find their pictures to be displayed on the 2.4-inch 240 x 320 pixel screen.
Other features include EDGE internet connectivity, an HTML browser, built-in MP3 player, and an FM radio receiver.
T-Mobile will be the first network operator in the US to offer Motorola’s net Zine N5, priced at $99 on a two year contract.
