Music industry and ISPs agree

by David Allen

The boss of UK Music and ex Undertones lead singer, Fergal Sharkey, believes that there is likely to be some sort of agreement between the organisation that represents the music industry and the internet service providers association ISPA.

This follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was agreed during the summer, when the six main ISPs, BT, BSkyB, Carphone Warehouse, Virgin Media, Tiscali and Orange, agreed to help the industry cut back on illegal file sharing.

Fergal Sharkey, speaking at a conference between the music industry and the ISPA, is confident that they will walk away with some sort of agreement to move forward with.

The six ISPs have between them around ninety per cent of the broadband market, meaning that any decision is going to affect a lot of broadband users.
