It makes no difference if it is called Phorm or BT Webwise, the internet traffic management system is going to upset some of BT’s customers.
However when a Plusnet subscriber gets the invitation screen which states, “As a BT Total Broadband customer, you can try an exciting new service called BT Webwise” then naturally they are going to be upset.
This has happened to just one of two hundred and fifty Plusnet customers according to BT, and it was completely by mistake.
The Plusnet customers were in fact taking part in another trial, which used the BT Retail Network (RIN) and a configuration error occurred.
A mistake like this can do the final trial of Phorm some serious harm, as broadband users are already worried about the consequences of such systems being used to monitor internet activity.
In the meantime BT say that no other Plusnet customers will be seeing the BT Webwise invitation screen.

True there were 250 Plusnet customers still logged in via RIN but only 1 customer has been reported as seeing the webwise invite.
