More online shoppers in Scotland

Ever since the credit crunch started there have been some serious concerns coming out of the high street over fears that sales will be down this Christmas.

However, although the high street would seem to be suffering, online sales have never been stronger.

In a survey that was carried out by YouGov, it was found that Scotland would appear to be the top place in the UK for online sales this festive season.

Seventy eight per cent of Scottish internet users plan to shop online for the presents and gifts, whereas users from the London area are not as sure, with only sixty eight per cent planning to shop online.

There could be valid reasons other than security issues why Scotland has a higher proportion of online shoppers, like people living in rural areas who find it impractical to travel into the nearest shopping centres.
