Some broadband users may feel that the rules for migration are already relaxed in favour of the internet service providers, but in fact last year the regulator Ofcom introduced the General Condition 22. This is the rule that helps customers switch providers.
This rule is not a fixture but remains in force for as long as Ofcom feels it is necessary.
They have extended this rule for another six months, yet somehow this news is not going make any difference to some customers who find themselves trapped with an ISP.
On the whole it seem that the migration process has improved since this ruling, but there are some customers who believe that there should be more powerful rules that customers can use when they are stuck.
Whatever the case, this rule remains in force for a further six months.
