Fluke adds VoIP to MetroScope

Fluke Networks, which provides solutions for the installation and certification of copper, fibre and wireless networks, has announced the addition of VoIP to its MetroScope carrier Ethernet analyser.

MetroScope can now provides real-time results from actual VoIP calls made over a carrier Ethernet line, making it easier and quicker for service providers to identify problems.

Service providers can now make VoIP calls over the carrier Ethernet line to other VoIP phones, the call managers or other MetroScope analysers.

Technicians can measure the quality of the call on MOS or R-Factor scales to assess the carrier Ethernet line’s performance, and diagnostic information is instantly displayed on the portable MetroScope analyser.

Mark Mullins, carrier Ethernet marketing manager at Fluke Networks said: “We understand how critical a crisp and clear call is to users. We have designed the new VoIP functionality of the MetroScope analyzer to provide faster, more accurate testing and easier to understand results of those VoIP calls.”

MetroScope has also been given new test capabilities with the addition of a newly designed ProVision test suite.

This makes MetroScope the first field tester designed to treat carrier Ethernet as a service.

As well as producing more relevant results, Provision helps to save time and money.

The lates version of MetroScope™ Service Provider Assistant with the ProVision test suite will be available in December 2008 from Fluke Networks’ carrier sales channels worldwide.
