Kangaroo set to jump in January

The broadband TV service, which has become known as Project Kangaroo, looks as if it is going to be ready to jump the gun in January.

The video on demand joint venture between the main terrestrial broadcasters, ITV, Channel Four and the BBC, will be getting a test run in early January; this is going to be well ahead of the ruling that will be made by the Competition Commission.

The first steps will be to begin the uploading of the content. This will take place next month, then the beta version will be launched in the new year, with a limited amount of users testing the system before the full version is launched when the trial are complete.

The final report from the Competition Commission is due until the beginning of February, although there will be an initial report before Christmas.
