Faster VoIP Connections From 8el
by Alan Harten
8el wants to make its “Presence” felt, with a new call handling process for VoIP communications which is intended to vastly increase call handling speeds.
The new IP-Centrex VoIP platform which is part of the company’s CallPort system will be known as Presence.
Presence will assist switchboard operators with a series of colour-coded indicators that will show exactly who is available to take incoming calls.
The intention of Presence is to bring users the kind of functionality they have become accustomed to with PBXs.
Every user will be assigned a separate status, with information clearly visible on the operator console.
When an incoming call is detected, the switchboard operator will be able to view the status of the call recipient quickly and easily and will then be able to transfer the call.
User status will be updated in real time, avoiding operators attempting to put through calls to users that are not available.
They will then be able to instantly decide whether to transfer the call to a mobile phone or perhaps to another colleague.
This will also have the benefit of reducing the call waiting time of the person attempting to reach the VoIP user.
Presence gives operators multiple options in ways to deal with the call as well as simple tools such as drag-and-drop to speed up the process.
Centralised file management can now be performed by a remote operator who could be working from home rather than from an office.
