The use of the internet has been blamed for youngsters spending too much time online or in their bedrooms, when they really should be outside or with their families.

However, a recent study by researchers at the University of California has found that youngster who use social networking sites, or even just watch videos online on YouTube, are often better at getting on with others, as well as having improved literacy and IT skills.

The research involved around eight hundred young people and their parents over a three-year period.

This involved monitoring their internet habits, which showed that youngsters habits are fairly complicated and involve highly technical skills which will help them as they get older and join the real world.
