Orange implements VAT cut two days early
by David Allen
Mobile operator Orange has announced that it will be introducing the Chancellor’s 2.5% VAT cut two days early in its retail stores.
Starting tomorrow, Orange will charge VAT at 15%, with prices rounded down to the nearest £0.50.
Sian Doyle, Orange’s director of retail, said the decision to bring in the VAT cut early was made with customers in mind.
Doyle said the cut would be great for customers who want to do their Christmas shopping now, using their last pay cheque before the festive season begins.
The move makes Orange the first retailer to launch a strategy related to the Chancellor’s VAT changes.
Orange said the VAT cut would be passed on to other areas of its business as soon as possible.
