BBC iPlayer has a million requests per day

by David Allen

The BBC describe the past year as being highly successful, but that would be an understatement as the catch up service, which was launched last Christmas, has proved to be much more than just successful, it has in fact changed the way people view TV.

By the end of November the service had seen over two hundred and thirty seven million views, with a further sixty one million views coming through the Virgin Media cable service.

Yet it is only the last half of the year where the figures have really taken off with November seeing a massive thirty five million requests for online views, and the service is now accessible to eighty five per cent of those households with TVs; that’s around forty eight million people.
