PAYG mobile broadband a hit for Christmas

The USB dongle offering pay as you go mobile broadband is looking like a surprise winner this festive season according to SeekBroadband.com, despite predictions that it would be the contract version with a laptop thrown in for good measure that would be topping the present list for many people.

The PAYG mobile broadband service offers the same service but a more flexible way of paying, working exactly like the mobile phone contracts used to.

However, these days credit is a lot harder to get and those people who would easily qualify are not so quick to jump into a long contract, especially when there is an easier alternative.

This presents the providers with a dilemma; do they go for long game or the short game?

Traditional telecom companies would be interested in the longer view as this would bring in more revenue but, with difficult times ahead, they cannot be too particular.
