Palm to reveal Nova at CES?

Janet Harris

Palm has issued invitations to a press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2009, causing rumours that it is about to preview its long-awaited Nova operating system.

Palm is in dire need of a boost having just issued a revenue warning for its second quarter to 28 November 2008.

It now expects revenues of between $190 million and $200 million, far short of the Wall Street expectations of $330.8 million.

Delays to Nova’s launch have seen the company fall behind rivals, and its delay in bringing out a new OS has seen it partner with Microsoft on Windows Mobile based devices, as well as revising its existing offering.

Devices with Nova, which will be based on Linux, are not expected to come to market until the second quarter of 2009.
