Garmin’s long awaited GPS enabled Nuvifone has won approval from the US FCC (Federal Communications Commission).
The Asustek-made handset will run on 850MHz and 1900MHz 3G bands, meaning that AT&T is the most likely distributor in North America.
The Nuvifone, first announced in January, will be the first ever smartphone from GPS maker Garmin.
It will feature a 3 megapixel camera, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Originally penciled in for release in the fourth quarter this year, delays have pushed the release date further and further away.
All we know is that we could see this phone before June 2009.
That’s a possibility, not a promise.
