Unison brings Unified Communications to Cisco and Digium Gateways

Unison Technologies’ ‘Unison’ free communications software now supports Cisco and Digium SIP gateways.

This means that SMBs can now deploy unified communications over traditional phone lines, without incurring high costs.

Unison combines telephony, e-mail, instant messaging and collaboration in a single Linux server and single Windows or Linux desktop client.

The software will run in parallel with existing analog lines, eliminating the need to remove existing infrastructure.

The Unison server has a built-in IP-PBX, so there is no need to purchase an expensive IP-PBX or IP telephones. The system works over traditional phone lines.

Unison provides advanced call features such as click-to-call, voicemail-to-e-mail, and realtime call recording.

Igor Balk, CTO of Unison Technologies said: “For the relatively low cost of a Cisco or Digium hardware gateway, any small or mid-sized business can now keep their existing analog lines, while at the same time upgrading to Unison unified communications. It is a great way to move beyond legacy systems such as a proprietary, standalone PBX.”
